Church of England Approves of Gay Marriage

 And Here We Must Stand

Last week the Church of England approved blessings for gay couples. The three voting houses of bishops, clergy and laity voted on the proposal in an all-church body known as Synod. In a joint statement by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Stephen Cottrell, the Archbishop of York, “For the first time, the Church of England will publicly, unreservedly and joyfully welcome same-sex couples in church.” Separately, Cottrell added that same-sex couples “could now come to church and have that relationship acknowledged, celebrated and the couple receive a blessing.”

How can you simultaneously celebrate and bless a marriage in the name of God while maintaining that it is not, in fact, a biblical marriage that God would endorse? That isn’t just doublespeak. That is a form of blasphemy. You can only bless what God has affirmed should be blessed, and only celebrate what God has affirmed should be celebrated. Homoerotic activity, much less gay marriage, is morally wrong. That may not be a cultural truth, but it is a biblical truth

Apple vs Elon Musk (Free Speech) It's All about China!

 BECAUSE

COOK REGARDS THE CHINESE AS FRIENDS

AND ELON MUSK AS AN ENEMY:

Related: Tim Cook Says He’s Ready To Pull Twitter From App Store Once President Xi Gives The Order. It’s satire. Or is it?

ROGER SIMON: Trapped by Apple—a Tale of the ‘Great Reset.’

Apparently, they are more upset with Elon Musk for trying to bring a modicum of transparency to Twitter, pulling their ads from his newly purchased platform and, according to Musk, threatening to remove the Twitter app from their app store.

Yet worse, in China, Apple has restricted AirDrop file sharing, the very method the demonstrators have been using to communicate privately out of earshot of their totalitarian masters. Was this on advice from the communist regime or did Apple just figure out for themselves what was in their best interest to do? It wouldn’t have been hard.

Meanwhile, Apple stock has lost some ground because these protests may be interfering with their iPhone production. Poor things. Further, according to Bloomberg, violent protests have erupted at Apple’s main iPhone plant in China. (Wasn’t Apple supposed to be leaving China for production? I guess not.)

Sadly, what’s going on isn’t surprising. Apple is acting in tandem with our administration, which also, not surprisingly, has stayed mostly mum about what’s going on in China and Iran. Freedom is of no interest to them.

Behind the Iran silence is, obviously, the three-letter word oil, for which President Joe Biden has only himself to blame for having seriously restricted our domestic supply for the most dubious of reasons.

As for China, Biden, we recall, is the man who insisted the Chinese—meaning the regime—were our friends, before he recanted that for electoral purposes. The true story of the Biden family and the Chinese communists, some of which must reside on Hunter’s laptop, is yet to be fully exposed.

What all this adds up to is Apple and the rest of Big Tech cooperating with the administration in the big lie that domestic terrorists (Trump, et al.) are the threat to democracy when they themselves are.

True democracy, whether manifest as a democratic republic or otherwise, has become an inconvenience for them in the march to globalism and the “Great Reset.”

When its guru Klaus Schwab said, “You will have nothing and you will be happy,” it’s not hard to imagine that he would exclude the iPhone or its equivalent implanted under our skin—“the better to track you with, my dear,” they might say in a modern version of a Disney classic.

Whatever their disagreements with Musk, “Elon Musk meets Tim Cook, says Apple never considered removing Twitter app,” according to CNBC.

UPDATE: Apple’s cowardice on China reveals app store Twitter ban as pure hypocrisy. “Apple is willing to defend its market value by co-operating with, quite literally, the world’s most brutal regime in its efforts to crush a grassroots movement of protestors pushed to the breaking point. But allowing people to tweet things offensive to liberal pieties is worthy of its action?”

ANOTHER UPDATE: Tim Cook denies Twitter threat.

When Ideology Trumps Empathy - Dems are All Hypocrites - Heather McDonald

When Ideology Trumps Empathy - Dems are All Hypocrites

When Ideology Trumps Empathy - City Journal Essay

It turns out that black lives really don’t matter.  In the run-up to the 2022 midterm elections, conservatives had relentlessly raised the alarm about the post–George Floyd crime surge: homicides had risen 29 percent in 2020 (the largest increase on record), and they have continued rising since then. Democrats and their media allies responded either that crime was a racist fiction or that, because post-Floyd crime levels nationally were still lower than they were in the early 1990s, there was nothing to see here, folks, move on!

These opposing positions were tantamount to saying that black lives matter or that they don’t. Black Americans have borne the brunt of the increased violence since the George Floyd race riots. Their share of homicide victims went from 53 percent in 2019 (blacks are 13 percent of the national population) to 56 percent in 2020. At least an additional 2,164 black lives were lost in 2020 over the 2019 count, compared with an increase of 950 white and Hispanic homicide victims combined in 2020. Such disparities only worsened in 2021 and 2022. In 2020, blacks between the ages of ten and 24 died of gun homicide at 20 times the rate of whites in the same age range. In 2021, blacks between the ages of ten and 24 died of gun homicide at nearly 25 times the rate of whites of the same age.

It’s the only racial disparity that progressives don’t care about.

TWO BRANDONS IN ONE: CDC Hacks Infecting Americans is ok if You're not Americans

 TWO BRANDONS IN ONE:

The CDC Decides The Science (TM) Says There’s an Emergency In the Skies Requiring Continued Mandatory Masking (But No Emergency on the Ground Necessitating Speedy Deportation of Illegal Aliens, Strangely Enough).

“One suspects they were not analyzing the ‘science,’ but once again, consulting with ‘stakeholders’ and politicians about the politics of it: Can we afford to piss off the Krazy Kovid Karens, the only cohort in America that still supports Biden by majority numbers? Well, now they’ve gotten a chance to do their homework and they say

yes, we’re still in an emergency, but only as far as Americans infecting Americans,

and Americans will have to wears masks on planes, but I guess we can still suspend Title 42 as far as illegal aliens sneaking across the border.”

Reparations? Wait Just One Minute - Ya'll

 JON STEWART’S SAD DECLINE:

Having been caught flat-footed during his appearance on Stewart’s show, [Andrew] Sullivan thoroughly dismantled Stewart’s monologue and subsequent attempt at panel moderation in a

Substack post.

Stewart’s claim that whites never tried to ameliorate black suffering until now requires him to dismiss over

 $19 trillion of public funds

spent in the long War on Poverty, focused especially on black Americans. That’s the equivalent of more than 140 Marshall Plans. As Samuel Kronen has shown, it requires the erasure from history of “the Food Stamp Act of 1964, the Child Nutrition Act of 1966, the Social Security Amendments of 1965, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, the Social Security Amendments of 1962, and the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, and on and on.” To prove his point, Stewart has to pretend LBJ never existed. That’s how utterly lost he now is.

Stewart then used crude metrics of inequality to argue, Kendi-style, without any evidence, that the only thing that can possibly explain racial inequality today in America is still “white supremacy.” Other factors — concentrated poverty, insanely high rates of crime and violence, acute family breakdown, a teen culture that equates success with whiteness, lack of affordable childcare — went either unmentioned or openly mocked as self-evident expressions of bigotry. He then equated formal legal segregation with voluntary residential segregation, as if Jim Crow were still in force. And he straw-manned the countering argument thus: white America believes that African-Americans are “solely responsible for their community’s struggles.”

I don’t know anyone who believes that. I sure don’t. It’s much more complex than that. And it’s that complexity that some of us are insisting on — and that Stewart wants to dismiss out of hand in favor of his own Manichean moral preening. His final peroration ended thus: “America has always prioritized white comfort over black survival.” Note: always. There has been no real progress; white people have never actually listened to a black person; America is irredeemably racist. Those fucking white men, Lincoln and LBJ, never gave a shit.

Rather than responding to Sullivan point-by-point as Sullivan had done to him, Stewart blasted the journalist on Twitter, asking “can we stop with the lazy ‘woke’ sh** anytime someone disagrees with a conservative. F*** man.”

Clown nose on, clown nose off.

The Anti-Semitism In Anti-Whiteness: Whoopi Goldberg just brought it out into the open.

 ANDREW SULLIVAN:

The Anti-Semitism In Anti-Whiteness: Whoopi Goldberg just brought it out into the open.

So here we go! Anti-Semitism is seen as not racism, because for Whoopi, and critical theorists, “racism” is defined as an essentially Euro-American social construction, which didn’t exist before the colonial era, and only applies to powerful whites (and fellow travelers) vis-a-vis powerless blacks. Racism is not, for them, a universal, instinctual, tribal, evolution-rooted suspicion of different-looking others that is always with us, and can happen anywhere. It is solely rather the deliberate, historically contingent oppression of the non-white by colonial “white supremacy.” However much truth this contains about American history (and it does contain a lot of it), it’s a terribly parochial view that misses a huge amount in the world, throughout history, and in America.

As Adam Serwer explains, this parochial view of racism also “renders the anti-Semitism that led to the Holocaust illegible.” Well, yeah. Any theory of racism that cannot explain the Holocaust is not just illegible, it is untenable. . . .

Whoopi’s gaffe helps explain why the mainstream media now describes young black men assaulting Jews and Asians as expressing … “white supremacy”! This is what the WaPo op-ed page, referring to growing Latino support for Trump, called “multiracial whiteness.” If they are non-white and bigots, they miraculously become white. And notice how bigotry is exclusively ascribed to a single “race”: whites. Without whites, we’d have no racism at all.

Well, that’s the goal, basically.

I’m certainly not surprised that they have The View in Hell.

Biden blocked the first Black woman from the Supreme Court.

PAST PERFORMANCE IS NO GUARANTEE OF FUTURE TRUNALIMUNUMAPRZURE:

Biden blocked the first Black woman from the Supreme Court

“Today, Biden calls the filibuster a

‘relic of the Jim Crow era.’

But he threatened to use that relic as a tool to keep a Black woman who actually lived under Jim Crow off the highest court in the land. The irony is that now he wants to get rid of the filibuster, and claim credit for putting the first Black woman on the court. There were many conservatives on Bush’s shortlist whose legal philosophy Biden opposed. But Biden only promised to filibuster the one Black woman. Why? Perhaps a clue lies in another confirmation fight that Biden helped wage. In 2001, Democrats blocked the nomination of Miguel Estrada to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. According to internal strategy memos obtained by the Wall Street Journal, they targeted Estrada at the request of liberal interest groups who said Estrada was

 ‘especially dangerous’

because ‘he is Latino, and the White House seems to be grooming him for a Supreme Court appointment.’ They did not want Republicans to put the first Hispanic on the Supreme Court. So, Biden and his fellow Democrats killed Estrada’s nomination —

the first appeals court nominee in history to be successfully filibustered

It paid off when President Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor as the first Hispanic justice. Democrats’ commitment to diversity is a ruse. Biden was willing to destroy the careers of an accomplished Latino lawyer and a respected Black female judge, and stop Republicans from putting either on the Supreme Court. For Democrats, it’s all about identity politics.”

In 2003, Joe Biden Filibustered and Voted Against Nomination of a Black Woman to the Federal Bench

In 2003, Joe Biden Filibustered and Voted Against Nomination of a Black Woman to the Federal Bench

BY RICK MORAN JAN 27, 2022 2:27 PM ET I

n 2003, then-President George W. Bush nominated Janice Rogers Brown, an associate justice on the California Supreme Court to serve as a Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She was the first black woman nominated for the federal bench.

But Rogers Brown had a problem; she was a libertarian-conservative and refused to play ball with civil rights organizations.

One of her major decisions was a dissent in the case of forcing cigarette manufacturers to put warning labels on packs and cartons. A truly libertarian decision. She also attacked the New Deal, which gave us Social Security and other programs as “the triumph of our socialist revolution.” You can imagine the anger of her liberal colleagues over that one.

But Joe Biden, champion of civil rights and the president who has gloried in naming the first minorities to several positions in his administration, filibustered against her nomination and voted twice against her. When Biden had the chance to vote for a black woman, he declined.

Breitbart:

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” host Laura Ingraham contrasted President Joe Biden’s vow to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court to replace outgoing Justice Stephen Breyer with then-Sen. Biden’s opposition to and multiple filibusters of the nomination of Janice Rogers Brown to the federal bench by then-President George W. Bush in 2003 and 2005 and remarked that “race and gender, they only count if you’re thought to be a committed judicial activist, judicial leftist.”

How soon will Democrats cancel Martin Luther King Jr

 ● Shot:

A Day of Hypocrisy. How soon will Democrats cancel Martin Luther King Jr. for calling for a color-blind America?

—Daniel Greenfield, FrontPage Magazine, today.

● Chaser: “Multiracial whiteness promises Latino Trump supporters freedom from the politics of diversity and recognition. For voters who see the very act of acknowledging one’s racial identity as itself racist, the politics of multiracial whiteness reinforces their desired approach to color-blind individualism.”

“To Understand Trump’s support, we must think in terms of multiracial Whiteness,”

Case for Reparations Is Progressive Corruption of Christianity

Case for Reparations Is Progressive Corruption of Christianity

By | July 2nd, 2019

In Christianity, original sin is the first cause which allowed evil to enter the history of mankind. While progressive liberals basically reject traditional Christianity, having their own origins so intimately tied up with those of Christendom, they cannot escape similar patterns of thought. They have their own versions of original sin which are the lens through which they see the world. This was on display once again as Marianne Williamson called for reparations during the Democratic primary debates last week. For the Church of Progressive Liberalism, slavery is an original sin, the first cause from which racism entered the body politic of the United States and Western Civilization in general.
Racism saturates the universe of the progressive. Former President Barack Obama said as much in a 2015 speech: “The legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination in almost every institution of our lives, you know, that casts a long shadow, and that’s still part of our DNA, that’s passed on. We’re not cured of it . . . Societies don’t overnight completely erase
everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior.” (Emphasis added.)

What makes this original sin concept so attractive to the progressive liberal believer is that the history is all true. Europeans did engage in the slave trade. African slaves were brutalized for four hundred years. Jim Crow happened. European imperialism and colonialismhappened. All of these are incontrovertible facts, and thus they form a solid foundation upon which to build the racism-as-original-sin structure.
Be that as it may, these facts do not change how perverse, unjust, and arbitrary this new conception of original sin is in its thinking and practice.

In traditional Christianity, the concept of original sin affects all humans alike. Mankind is fallen. But the racialized original sin of progressive liberals doesn’t apply to all humans equally. Some are more guilty than others, though all of the actual perpetrators are dead. Writing for the Daily Beast, Columbia University linguist John McWhorter sums it up:
The Antiracism religion . . . has . . . a conception of Original Sin . . . One is born marked by original sin; to be white is to be born with the stain of unearned privilege . . . The proper response to White Privilege is to embrace . . . the understanding that you will always harbor the Privilege nevertheless. Note that many embrace the idea of inculcating white kids with their responsibility to acknowledge Privilege from as early an age as possible, in sessions starting as early as elementary school.
Look into the overwhelmingly white and liberal professors and educators of the university and K-12 schools and you’ll see people who take racism seriously and have a well-formed race-based metaphysics.
In one lesson taken from the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Teaching Tolerance” website, we get a glimpse of this metaphysical approach to racialized original sin through the doctrine of “White Privilege.” Teaching Tolerance is used by thousands of American teachers in front of tens of thousands of students every year. The lesson claims it is not about shaming anybody: “having white privilege and recognizing it is not racist. But white privilege exists because of historic, enduring racism and biases. Therefore, defining white privilege also requires finding working definitions of racism and bias.”
Perhaps the most important lesson about white privilege is the one that’s taught the least. Teaching Tolerance explains:
The “power of normal” and the “power of the benefit of the doubt” are not just subconscious byproducts of past discrimination. They are the purposeful results of racism—an ouroboros of sorts—that allow for the constant re-creation of inequality. These powers would not exist if systemic racism hadn’t come first. And systemic racism cannot endure unless those powers still hold sway. You can imagine it as something of a whiteness water cycle, wherein racism is the rain. That rain populates the earth, giving some areas more access to life and resources than others. The evaporation is white privilege—an invisible phenomenon that is both a result of the rain and the reason it keeps going.
First, notice how “white” is used as a slur, a pejorative. Second, and most important, notice the use of the word “ouroboros.” An ouroboros is a snake eating its own tail. It means something which is infinite. In other words, this idea of racialized original sin goes back forever—and crucially, will go on forever. Ending white privilege, to use Teaching Tolerance’s own words, is as likely as ending the rain. There is no reconciliation. No redemption. No escape.
This point is vital. It means the policies meant to “remedy” the original sin of white privilege—reparations, apologies, preferential hiring—will never allow the living to make a clean break from the deeds of (some of) their long dead ancestors. Instead, it will live on through successive generations the way some Christians saw the crime of deicide embodied in living Jews over 1,000 years after the Crucifixion. Unlike the practice of baptism, which allows the Christian to escape the penalty of the Fall once and for all, no such mechanism exists within the progressive liberal religion.
A racialized conception of original sin is not confined to African slavery. It is easy to find well-meaning (usually white) progressive liberals writing pieces in the style of the salvation testimony declaring the need to re-educate the benighted youth about America’s “original sins.”
Consider James Loewen’s Lies My Teacher Told Me, a bestseller that has sold over 2 million copies. It was used in my university’s school of education for teacher preparation. Loewen’s chapter on the conquest of the Americas is titled “Red Eyes.” What do you get after you’ve come home in shame and tears? Red eyes. Recall how Teaching Tolerance said learning about white privilege wasn’t about shame. This is a lie. Loewen begins “Red Eyes” with this quote: “There is not one Indian in the whole of this country who does not cringe in anguish and frustration because of [American history] textbooks. There is not one Indian child who has not come home in shame and tears.”
Loewen’s remedy for this? Convicting the descendants of those who perpetrated these sins of their guilt and sending them home from school ready to repent.
Loewen explains, “what we have done to the peoples who were living in North America” is, according to anthropologist Sol Tax, “our Original Sin [emphasis added] . . . If we look Indian history squarely in the eye, we are going to get red eyes. This is our past, however, and we must acknowledge it. It is time for textbooks to send white children home, if not with red eyes, at least with thought-provoking questions.”
Karl Marx, in the Communist Manifesto, said, “the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes.” There are numerous other original sins: patriarchy and sexism, heteronormativity and homophobia, cis-privilege and transphobia, Christian privilege and Islamophobia, and on it continues ad infinitum. Progressive liberalism is appropriating traditional Christianity and building an entirely different superstructure on top of its vandalized foundations.
National Review’s Michael Tanner argues that “issues like (reparations) are about more than politics, and the animating sentiment behind reparations is not one that can be easily dismissed.” Tanner is right, the animating sentiment behind these issues is definitely hard to dismiss. But why is it so hard to dismiss? Why can’t we finally be up and done with this? Because this issue of reparations is a religious dogma in essence.
The real question is: should progressive liberals be able to use state power to enforce what amounts essentially to a religious doctrine on those of us who do not accept this surreptitious new religion?

Message to the Republicans: Free the People!

Message to the Republicans: Free the People!

T
he political adage holds that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” This adage’s not-irrational assumption is that “the enemy of my enemy is also me.”

Unless, it seems, you’re the Republican Congress.
Having once served with many of you, I understand and empathize as you contend with obstructionist Democrats, a hostile media, and internecine ideological and political schisms in your collective endeavor to affirm and advance American greatness amidst the transformational challenges facing our nation in this chaotic age.
Truly, I do not envy you.
Don’t fret. As a guitar player, I won’t be singing in the Greek chorus of mounting complaints regarding your performance to date—or the lack thereof. But at times it seems you’re intent on proving the sagacity of Ralph Waldo Emerson (you know, the keyboard player in Emerson, Lake, and Palmer): “As long as a man stands in his own way, everything seems to be in his way.”
I’m sure no one is more frustrated about this stasis of affairs than you are—save for the sovereign citizens who entrusted you with a majority to steer the ship of state toward the distant shore of better days after eight years adrift under the Obama Administration and its mercifully fleeting Democratic majority. Yet every great journey has its missteps and stumbles; and, in your case, dead-ender Democrats trying to cut you off at the knees.
But you knew this going in and have been ceaselessly reminded of it 24/7/52/365: Ladies and gentlemen, you’re not paranoid; the Left is out to get you. And, in the immortal word of Andrew Breitbart, “So?” Despite the Left, you’re in Congress because of the people who believe you will affirm and advance American greatness. They believe there is greatness in you.
Such is not the illusory “greatness” Emerson decried (I think in “Lucky Man”), whereby one “crawls through life a paralytic to earn the praise of bard and critic.” It is the true greatness Emerson extolled (I’m paraphrasing here): “Stand your ground and the world will come ’round.”
That time is now.
Of course, to stand for principle is not to stand still; nor content oneself with playing defense, however earnest, against the Left’s insane attacks upon humanity’s enduring verities and virtues that have made and kept America great. You don’t get off that easy, Tiger. You are compelled by the honor you sought, and God and the voters granted, to actively affirm and advance American greatness, and to do it all the while aware of the unattractive consequences of your course—and, it being the swamp, the temptations and threats proffered to induce your retreat. Yet, this is why voters glimpsed a simple, elegant greatness in you:
You’ve got the guts to do what you must and not give a damn who doesn’t dig it.
This you can and will do. Because, like your voters, you know America is always great; and it is the government and the racket of hacks and hucksters infesting its swamp that suck. And, thus, you know why the people consented to entrust you as its servants in a Republican majority: To free the people from the swamp.
So . . .
Free the people to pursue their American dreams.
Free the people to keep what they earn.
Free the people to escape the welfare state’s soul-crushing cycle of poverty, despair, and dependence.
Free the people to enjoy their hearth of home by defeating tyrants and terrorists.
Free the people to heal our nation by speaking, acting and engaging in accordance with the dictates of their consciences absent any fear of governmental coercion under the guise and guileful enforcement of “political correctness.”
In sum, free the people to inspire the world with what America achieves!
And that’s just for starters. (Talk about a “honey-do” list.)
Sure it won’t be a leisurely stroll through the swamp. You’ll step in some quicksand and bogs and some other stuff you’d prefer not be identified as it clings to the bottom of your shoes. But as the heirs of our party’s first president, “the Great Emancipator,” and that “Gipper” fellow who liberated the world from an evil empire, you’ll make it.
I just humbly submit you might pick up the pace a bit. In this social media-driven and riven world, folks are growing increasingly impatient in their pursuit of happiness.
Godspeed, GOP!
